To fight this grave and common threat, the Parties to theUnited Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have raised their commitment to reducegreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to address the root cause of this problem. Despite this concerted action, theIntergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has voiced concern that the global average temperaturewould continue to rise as efforts under the nationally determined contributions (NDCs) would unlikely be ableto stabilize global warming. As such, all countries would continue to be faced with the devastating impacts ofclimate change in the forms of extreme weather and slow onset events, resulting in damages and losses ofnatural resources, properties and lives.In this connection, adaptation efforts to reduce the risks and respond to the adverse impacts of climate changehave become an urgent and significant global agenda in order to save vulnerable communities and futuregenerations.
