Services and Fare Rates
The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is a public utility state enterprise under the Ministry of Transport, established by the Metropolitan Transit Authority Establishment Act B.E. 2519 (established on October 19, 1976). Its duty is to provide bus services for commuters in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Prakan. It operates 458 routes with a total fleet of 13,942 buses (as of May 31, 2018), comprising: MTA regular buses (1,543), MTA air-conditioned buses (1,111), MTA chartered buses (117), and private company joint-operation vehicles: regular buses (2,037), air-conditioned buses (1,383), minibuses (907), soi songthaews (2,089), air-conditioned songthaews (4,626), and CNG vans connecting to Suvarnabhumi Airport (129).
