History Huam Mueang Subdistrict was established around 2412–2413 BE (88–89 RE) during the reign of the 5th King of the Chakri Dynasty. The first village founders were Pho Thao Phothisaraj (Sa) and his associates, such as Pho Thao Hom, Pho Thao Hab Theng, and Pho Thao Luang Kaew, among others. The villagers originally migrated from Ban Phon Thong, Thai Subdistrict, Khiao Nai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, and another group migrated from Mueang Nong Bua Lam Phu during the era of Phra Wa and Phra Ta, when Ayutthaya was the capital. Before becoming a village, this area was a village surrounded by a lagoon and forest, abundant in agriculture and animal husbandry. Today, it is a subdistrict abundant in many aspects and is the largest subdistrict in Maha Chana Chai District.
