This involves testing product safety for health, household chemicals, and test samples include cosmetics, herbs, medical devices, chemicals, and nanotechnology products. Test examples include skin irritation, skin corrosion, skin sensitization, eye irritation, cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, free radical scavenging activity, UV-induced toxicity, UV protection activity, and biocompatibility of medical materials. The Toxicology and Biology Testing Center is a unit under the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) framework. NSTDA operates with a team of researchers experienced in pre-clinical toxicology research and testing for over 10 years. The objective is to provide toxicology, pharmacology, chemical, biological, and pharmacological effect testing services related to product safety, using methods and processes based on scientific principles and international quality standards such as ISO, OECD test guidelines, and other standards, for product registration, certification, and export.
