This may involve living together with or without a wedding ceremony, and with or without marriage registration. 2) Unmet need for contraception refers to women who are capable of bearing children, are not using any contraception, but wish to delay having the next child (spacing) or stop having children (limiting). 3) Met need for limiting births refers to women (or their spouses) who are currently using contraception and do not want more children, or who have undergone female or male sterilization, or state they are unable to bear children. Met need for spacing refers to women (or their spouses) who are currently using contraception and want more children or have not yet decided whether to have more children. The total met need for contraception is the sum of met needs for spacing and limiting births.
