Conducted to (1) collect basic data on trade and service business operations, such as the number, type, and size of establishments; number of employees; wages and labor compensation; cost of goods purchased for resale and services; operating expenses; revenue; beginning and ending inventory; and value of fixed assets of establishments. (2) Use in planning efficient national economic development, setting national-level economic development policies and directions, formulating plans to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and compiling national accounts to determine directions for economic expansion.
