Inorder to facilitate effective youth development, thereis a need for more evidence-based policies on youthdevelopment. This is where the Youth DevelopmentIndex (YDI) becomes important as the basis forformulating related policies and programmeson youth development both at ASEAN and AMSlevels. ASEAN, as part of its commitment to youthdevelopment, began its preparation of the ASEANYDI in 2016. A number of meetings and workshopswere held in 2015 and 2016 to discuss and obtainan agreement on the preparation of the ASEANYDI (twice in Cambodia and twice in Indonesia).This Report reflects the development of an overallframework and presents the first iteration of theASEAN YDI incorporating internationally availabledata from credible sources.ASEAN Member States (AMS) agreed on an agerange of population categorized as youth whichare between 15 - 35 year
