Poverty rate based on expenditure for consumption, Uthai Thani Province
An indicator of poverty incidence, widely used. "Poor people" refers to those with income or expenditure below the poverty line. The proportion of poor people is useful for indicating the number of poor people in each area, but it cannot indicate the severity of poverty. If the poor become poorer, the proportion of poor people remains the same because it cannot indicate how severe the poverty is. The proportion of poor people is typically multiplied by 100 to express it as a percentage. For example, a poverty rate of 15% in Krabi Province means that out of 100 people in Krabi Province, 15 are poor.
