Farmers Receiving Training on Technology Transfer for Increasing Production Efficiency of Safe Products to Organic Agriculture Standards
Farmers who participated in training on technology transfer to increase the efficiency of producing safe products to organic agricultural standards. These are farmers who primarily use chemicals in cultivation, such as chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, focusing on monoculture. The objective is to achieve high production volumes. This type of farming is mostly done for sale to traders who come to purchase, so prices depend on farm-gate prices, leaving farmers with little bargaining power. This constitutes another form of monopoly. Furthermore, it involves high capital costs due to chemical fertilizers and pesticides, with chemical fertilizer prices rising annually. Long-term chemical use degrades the ecosystem, including soil erosion, water contamination, and air pollution, indirectly harming nature and exposing farmers to toxins. Therefore, the 'One Tambon One University' project organized activities to provide knowledge to farmers and interested parties through community leaders or village Line groups, targeting organic farmers and interested residents in Mueang Chang sub-district, to participate in training to change attitudes.
