Water Sources Outside Irrigation Districts (Small Wells)

1. The area for digging a seasonal water reservoir for fields must be a low-lying area or suitable for rice cultivation. The land slope must not exceed 2 percent. 2. The reservoir must have a catchment area at least 8 times the size of the reservoir. This should be observed from water channels or by interviewing locals to estimate water flow in the operational area. 3. The digging area must have soil containing at least 20 percent clay throughout a depth of 3 meters from the surface. 4. The reservoir depth must not exceed 3 meters. 5. The reservoir must not be located in areas prone to saltwater intrusion, unless the area has already implemented effective anti-saltwater intrusion systems. 6. The water reservoir must have a capacity of at least 1,260 cubic meters based on excavation volume. In low-lying areas, the reservoir capacity will exceed 1,260 cubic meters. 7. Water reservoirs do not need to follow a standard shape; they may be rectangular or other forms.
