Field Crop Area
Field crops are herbaceous plants and drought-resistant trees that require little water, have short planting and harvesting cycles, and the stems die after harvest. Field crops are the main occupation of Thai farmers. Economic field crops generate significant revenue for Thailand, such as sugarcane as a raw material for sugar production, corn as a raw material for animal feed, and cassava as a raw material for starch and animal feed production. Agricultural colleges promote the cultivation of high-quality field crops, such as promoting the Huai Bong 60 cassava variety, which yields high production and is disease-resistant, and promoting the Phetchaburi pineapple variety, which is sweet and crisp.
