Sewage treatment plants
The wastewater treatment system relies on natural processes to assist and participate in treatment. The amount of waste in wastewater is decomposed by microorganisms in the wastewater. Meanwhile, algae use sunlight as energy in the photosynthesis process, releasing oxygen for microorganisms to use in respiration. Algae use substances obtained from the decomposition process for growth, which is a symbiotic relationship process between bacteria and algae in the pond. This results in the emergence of green algae in the pond, approximately 100-260 milligrams per liter, causing the water to appear green. Discharging water from the treatment system should remove algae beforehand to avoid causing pollution problems to natural water sources. When these algae die, they become organic debris and settle at the bottom of the pond.
